First day in Tasmania. From Devenport to Launceston via Exeter and then to Bridport.

The day started very cloudy windy and cold, it was time for layers, I decided to take it easy and learn my way around Tasmania, which at least on the way to Launceston, it looked like any number of Australian lanscapes, multiple farms, some with agriculture and some with cattle, vinyards, not much traffic and as usual, following secondary roads and leaving the motorway it is more scenic and relaxed, It took two hours to get to Launceston which sits along the Tamar river banks, and this valley offers the traveler excellent views, the town is one of the biggest in Tasmania, it was founded in 1804 (Mexico was still a Spanish colony) and it has a replica of the BigBen of London. I followed the river to George Town and then turned East toward Bridport which is a tourist town with a beautiful bay, I had a good lunch in on of the coastal bistros and got an excellent B&B called Bridairre that is very nice with a magnificent view of the bay, reasonably priced and the only thing I would add is WiFi that it does not have. These days this detail is almost a given to atract customers in every service oriented bussiness, but there are still a few owners that for some reason wil not provide it or even still charge for the service. I have been using booking.com to find my accomodations, and I noticed that a few of the owners-managers of these places tell me that if I called them directly they would offer me a discount at least equivalent to the comission that they have to pay booking.com, for some reason this does not seem right, on one hand this App provides them with customers that otherwise they could not get but they resent the12% that they are charged, and in any case the customer is the one that pays.

Tomorrow I will follow the East coast down to Hobart where I have booked a three day stay, I will tell you about it. Victor
