Murwillumbah to Tenterfield

In a lookout of the Blue Mountains
After loading my things in the bike (BMW R1200R 2007) I started my trip near noon, following the Kyogle Road toward Kunghur, and Nimbin, Lismore, Casino and Tabulam where you cross a historic timber bridge built by convicts, you follow the Bruxner Highway and arrived to Tenterfield where I decided to spend the first night, the road is scenic and pleasant, showing rain forest and typical Australian farms. The town of Tenterfield has a very important museum named after the Prme Minister that declared Australia a Country in a speech given in the building that houses the museum. A small Motel Tally Ho,($83.00 dlls) proved very comfortable and the manager even cooked Risolles an English dish similar to meat balls served with gravy and mash potatoes, very tasty.
The next morning I started at 8:30 am in order to avoid the kangaroos and wombats that roam around during the early morning, early evening and at night, one follows the New England Highway, it passes thru Glen Innes, Scottish town famous for its stones mimicking Stone Henge in Scotland, then it passes thru Guyra, Armidale a nice University town, Uralla, Tamworth( where I was able to buy a tank bag for the motorcycle so I can keep my camera handy and the maps, with the carefully planned route done by Dianne Durnell, then Stone and Muswellbrook, arriving to Singleton to spend the night. The motel was located at the entrance of a very busy street, even dangerous, noisy due to constant traffic of multiple cargo trucks, and although very clean and comfortable, they are behind the times regarding WiFi, that is always free and available , the manager offers a very limited internet space and when you are disconected, their web page did not let me buy additional time and space??? this added to the noise makes the Motel Benjamin 24 a do not return place for me (DNR)($110.00 dlls)
Today the third day on the road I am getting more organized and I was able to start rolling at 7:30 am, the road was wet from the night before and there was a chill in the air, but the trip to Wiseman's Ferry and Windsor was very pleasant, the highway is ideal for motorcyclists, with a lot of curves, some of them very tight and the authorities constantly remind you to be careful with your speed , threatening you with fines as high as $940.00 AU dlls. They are right and the wet road makes it more dangerous.
The views before Windsor were stunning, while I took some pictures another motorcyclist arrived, he turned out to be an 84 y/o retired bussinessman driving a 1300 cc Hayabusa, We had a very nice chat as he is very inteligent, he is religious and ver pro Trump and when he was leaving I had just suggested to him that his bike was too heavy for him and he should trade it for one lighter and less powerful, when just exiting the parking lot he dropped his bike fortunately only hurting his pride and scratching his plastics, with the help of another young man we lifted his bike and he left mad saying that he would sell it.
After Windsor which is fairly big I lost my route and wasted about 100 km to get back on it.Fortunately it rained only a few kilometers and the rest of the day was sunny but the temperature dropped and there was a lot of wind in the tops of the Blue Mountains.
I passed Richmond, Kurrajong, but missed Bilpin, Berambing, Mt.Victoria and Blackheath, I got to Katoomba, but in my disoriented attempt to see more of the Blue Mountains I aimed for Oberon where I am spending the night in a nice Motel Titania.($99.00 dlls)
Tomorrow I will be starting to see the Highlands on my way to Melbourne
If ever somebody is interested in coming this way if you keep a copy of this route designed by Dianne it would save the traveler a lot of effort and guessing, it represent a summary of years of experience traveling and advising tourist on her part.
